The Truth About Veganism: My Reasons and Your Reality Check. - SAABOON

The Truth About Veganism: My Reasons and Your Reality Check.

Posted on May 20, 2025

Sometimes, people wonder why my brand SAABOON is vegan and whether that means the products are edible. In this blog post, I'll explain my reasons.

Veganism is more than just a diet...

It's a lifestyle of compassion and respect for animals, acknowledging the harm caused by using animals for food, products, clothing, or entertainment. As a result, to be vegan is to eliminate, or at least reduce as much as possible and practical, this harm by avoiding animal-derived ingredients, preventing animal exploitation, and advocating for a world where animals are safe, respected, and not exploited for human benefit or enjoyment.

I highly recommend you watching Gary Yourofsky's 'Best Speech You Will Ever Hear' on YouTube to expand your knowledge of veganism. This video, though age-restricted, features an engaging presentation on veganism, and there's a brief, graphic segment, which you can skip. The speech itself offers a valuable perspective on what it means to be vegan.

In addition, I recommend you watching the 2018 documentary 'Dominion' on YouTube. This film reveals the harsh realities of animal agriculture, offering a vital perspective on the origins of the "food" we consume. It's essential to educate ourselves about the impact of our choices, and this documentary provides an eye-opening look at how animals are treated within the food industry.

My ethical philosophy revolves around striving for animal liberation. By selecting vegan products made with cruelty-free ingredients, at SAABOON, I aim to promote a world that moves closer to freeing animals from exploitation, fostering a more compassionate future for all living beings.

While the subject matter can be serious, there are positive steps we can take. I highly encourage you to visit Challenge22.com to learn more about adopting a vegan lifestyle.

Challenge 22 is a free, 22-day online program that assists and encourages people in trying a vegan diet. Not only is this program cost-free, but it also provides a unique blend of group support, personal mentorship, and expert advice from dietitians. Participants receive daily tasks that cover nutrition, cooking tips, and delicious recipes, allowing for an enjoyable exploration of a vegan lifestyle.

I also agree that veganism is more than our diet, but also the way we contribute to this world by making bold choices to respect animals and nature and by supporting local businesses. During the pandemic I made the fortunate discovery of Saaboon and have been a fan of your products ever since!

I love animals and although I am not a vegetarian/vegan I will take a look at some of the links that you posted to become more informed.

I am not personally vegan, however, I do love all animals, and appreciate their presence on this planet. In fact, in most cases, I enjoy the company of animals more than humans!
I guess I try not to think too much about their exploitation. This is a topic I need to explore and reflect upon. Thank you for sharing this blog post!

I’ve been vegetarian since 2012. Back then, I didn’t know much about veganism, but I just couldn’t justify eating animals anymore. Over time, I’ve become more aware of the ethical side, and blogs like this help remind me why it matters.

Thanks for being so clear and honest in sharing your reasons—and for creating products that align with these values. I really appreciate the work you’re doing.

I’m vegan (and pretty healthy) for thirteen years. I became a vegan when I realized the suffering the animals have to go through because of us. I was disgusted and so much in pain for them. All living beings should be free and happy. As much as possible.

I was vegetarian from 2004-2021. In 2021, I became vegan for the animals, thanks to my furbaby, Sprinkle. The suffering that animals go through for humans breaks my heart. I support as many local vegan
businesses as possible, such as Saaboon and am grateful to have the chance to buy products and food to support my values and beliefs. Thank you!

Thank you for so clearly laying out the values that shape what you do! I’ve been vegan for thirty years and this is one of the key reasons why I buy your soap. For me, a commitment to animal liberation goes hand-in-hand with a commitment to social justice and ecological sustainability. While I don’t think there is any way that we can individually step “outside” of the violence and injustice that suffuses our society, I see veganism as a way to practice the transformative values that we work to create on a much bigger scale.

Great suggestions, the Game Changers is another good documentary. We’re a vegan family, for about 8 years now, with two teens who are athletic. We find there are more vegan food options nowadays compared to before, which is a hopeful sign. Thank you for offering cruelty-free products.

I try to do what I can to help animals. I rarely go to the meat section anymore though my husband still eats meat once in awhile. If people become aware of the suffering animals endure, their choices, too, may change. The suffering they go through to give us meat, milk, eggs is disgusting.
